NDSU Extension and FirstLink are jointly supporting upcoming training sessions in Adult Mental Health First Aid. Sometimes you need help. Sometimes you are help. This training can provide you with awareness and skills to support the mental and emotional health of oneself, others dealing with stress or working in agriculture, or those supporting the agricultural industry. This training is offered through support from the ND Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Center grant (USDA-NIFA).

What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance use issues. It helps you with the skills to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health concerns (such as depression, substance misuse, or suicidal thinking), such as listening, giving support, and connecting someone with appropriate professional resources. The intent is to develop skills in understanding, support, and referral. This is an evidence-based program.

What Should I Know About the Training?

  • The training session will be held in-person.
  • Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour training with 30 minutes of self-study prior to the course (7.5 hours).
  • A limit of 30 individuals can participate in a single training session. Please register for this training as soon as possible to preserve your slot. Once you have registered, follow-up communication about the training will take place via email.
  • CEU's are available.

What is the Cost of the Training?
This specific Mental Health First Aid training session is FREE. All costs of registration and materials are covered by the ND Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Center grant project (USDA-NIFA).
